meanwhile, back on pinterest

Some amazing images & ideas that recently sparked my interest....on pinterest!

(1) One of the largest underground cites in Turkey, Cappadocia (I am sorry if I missed this in highschool. Kind of amazing).

(2) As I am more obsessed with hair products/organic looking styles (think beach waves), this make-it- yourself coconut shampoo is right up my current alley.

(3) The most beautiful menu I ever did see.

(4) In an apartment (and city) where bathtubs are not to be trusted (5 previous residents is kind of my cut-off), this clear bathtub makes me want to spend my post-work evenings making my fingers prune and my skin completely absorbent with crystal clear water.

(5) This is what confidence looks like, and I like it.

Have a sparklin' afternoon, everyone, XO.

{I am still trying to trace the origin of this breathtaking photo...but in the meantime, I am proud to say I stumbled upon it well spending a delightfully lazy hour on pinterest}

beautiful business cards

Aren't these business cards (and branding) designed by interbang for Taylor Black Jewelry just the right amount of everything?....beautiful being the first word that comes to mind.

stop it, j.crew!

You guys are killin me! No, really. If there was ever a time to upgrade to the iPhone4......

on my mind....

stuff i just can't/don't see the point in getting over....

(1) Surfing craig's list (for furniture only, just to clarify!). Even when I don't need anything, it's like crack cocaine. It's the Don Bergeron (my thrifty father) in me. Can't stop, won't stop.

(2) How proud I feel to be a New Yorker.

(3) All of the flowers! While I love seeing hydrangeas popping up all over the city and literally enjoy nothing more than choosing from the fresh picked bunches at mom 'n pop bodegas, knowing that I get to enjoy my mom's perennially beautiful garden this weekend makes my smile a mile long (my favorites are her glorious morning glories, which she just told me are always planted for me!).

(4) Rearranging my apartment.  This is no big surprise for anyone that knows me, but since my roommate has moved out (sigh) and my boyfriend has moved in for the time being, the enormous amount of additional space is like christmas.  Again, can't stop, won't stop (Bri, thanks for being so patient with me).  Right now, I'm focusing on my cute little corner desk.  I even have enough space to set up a PRINTER! i am really looking forward to feeling inspired here and being able to keep my laptop in one place.  Man, I forgot how much I missed having a desk (lets pretend I am not sitting at one right now at work. TOTALLY different, right?).

(5) Speaking of work: I finally have a beautiful (not to mention completely functional) computer.  And not just any computer - the most amazing mac desktop (wireless keyboard and all!).  clearly I have applied a lot of emotional attachment to this piece of technology.  I never do this so that goes to show what a big deal this is for me (it also makes me feel more validated within my company. that means a lot).

(6) All things Groupon, Living Social and PopSuper.  Within the past week I've purchased 5 kickboxing classes for 20 dollas and spent $15 for $30 worth of food & drink at the very cool Brooklyneer.  Booyah!  And sometimes it takes a good self-gifted certificate to get yourself somewhere you wouldn't normally go and do so something you wouldn't normally do.

(7) Making my parents happy.  My grandfather and sister and I rallied together and were able to help send my parents to san francisco for their 25th wedding anniversary (one of my mom's dream destinations!). I wish I had all the money in the world to do this more often.

(8) Having things to look forward to!  A weekend getaway in the works, a concert in central park planned or having a flight booked adds that skip in my step and can often make all the difference in your attitude.

(9) sun, summer, air, salt, sand and quiet.

....I'll stop on 9 because it's my lucky number. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

where in the world.....

have you been?

I can/do spend hours daydreaming of the places I've been and all the places I hope to go (read: wanderlust!).  But something about scratching each country off makes my past and future travel memories more tangible.  And there is nothing like staring at a map and trying to grasp the enormity of our planet - isn't it always the most sublime and humbling feeling?

Do as I'm about to do and order this map.  Even if you don't want it to be part of the obvious mise-en-scene of your decor, throwing it on the inside of your closet door is bound to help you start of your day feeling lucky, aware and inspired!

oh, hello.

Hello, lovelies.  I’m still here, I swear!  Just taking a little time off from the blog world – changing computers at work/the internet is down at my apartment, i've been off enjoying summer's spell (like the rest of you), and to be honest, I am just kind of in a creative lull.  But as soon as I feel that magical energy bubbling again, I promise: you will all be the first to know.                                                                                                                                                              Enjoy the sunshine

have a ____ weekend ♥

In my case, musical weekend, because I'm going home to see my Dad and if I haven't mentioned before, he's quite the {kickass} music man. And a really wonderful father.  Here's some of the songs I'll be listening to. Maybe you will, too.

Oh baby, am I SMITTEN.  Lindsey Adelman’s light fixtures are above and beyond – whimsical, modern, industrial, contemporary, edgy (see pic.nO2) and delightfully antiqued.  Did you know all of these adjectives could coexist so beautifully in a single object? (Me neither.)

AND this cool New York City based artist even offers legit (and evidently successful) instructions on how to create a rad light fixture yourself. I love me a good DIY (but is it just me, or does a project that involves rewiring ANYTHING seem extra daunting?  I guess the key to getting over this barrier would be hiring an actual electrician, but again, daunting, no?).  Oh well, this project seems worth it!  Though I still have a hard time believing that whatever I’d make could possibly compare to these bursts of magnificence.

ideas.

this room gives me a lot of them (ideaz, that is). Hello, obsession. Pink. Clean. Flamingos (these pillows are very Upper East Side old lady, and I love em!). A painting that is reminiscent of Massimo Vitali’s landscapes. And maybe even a little nod to Miami livin'? ME LIKE.

a girl and a bench

J’adore this lovely summer uniform (of course it’s completely impractical for my frame but perfect for hers).  I’m still waiting to feel out my go-to hot weather outfit – last year I couldn’t stop wearing black rompers, and jean cut offs with airy denim button-downs with nude wedges.  Hmm….I’m suddenly feeling like I should throw some grey into my suitcase before heading to the sunshine (I hope!) state.

And that bench &/or sofa – well no description or declaration of love is necessary – the Danish style legs and reclaimed wood speak for themselves (my co-worker/friend introduced me to this company this morning – they’re based in NYC and are about to open a store!).  Urban Outfitters makes a similar frame – oh, the possibilities!!
